Spoken English marks the claim with stress. Writing does not. The reader supplies a pulse. When they pulse the wrong word, they take a claim you did not make.

Misemphasis is that miss: the stress a silent reader invents. The skill shows the readings that are already there, then offers wording that does not need a pulse.

The seven-stress demonstration is older than this skill. Rachel Rooney's What I Really Mean, from The Language of Cat (2011), is built on:

I didn't say she stole my money.
